Description
Together with the staff of the Parks and Recreation Department, the Commission assists with the oversight of the town’s parks and recreational areas and facilities, including Granbrook Park, Cowles Park, East Granby Farms & Recreation Center, and the East Granby stretch of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail.
The Parks and Recreation Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the Parks and Recreation Department, to identify engaging and accessible recreational programs, activities, and town-wide events for all ages, in our community.
The Parks and Recreation Commission meets on the first Thursday of each month.
There are nine adult members, each of whom serves a four-year term, and two student members that each serve a one-year term. All members are volunteers and are appointed by the Board of Selectmen.
Board vacancies occur periodically; if you are interested in serving on the Parks and Recreation Commission, please contact the Director of Parks & Recreation.
