ASSISTANT MECHANIC
The Town of East Granby is seeking qualified applicants for a Full-Time Assistant Mechanic position for the Department of Public Works. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week benefit eligible position and is represented by AFSCME, AFL-CIO Local 1303-253. The base hourly rate is $35.64.
This position performs maintenance and repair of the Town’s fleet, including heavy and light equipment (both diesel and gasoline powered), small motors, vehicles, and machinery. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, assisting in major repairs, and ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Qualified candidates will have a diploma from a traditional high school or trade/vocational school along with three (3) years’ experience as a skilled mechanic in the repair and maintenance of automotive, heavy truck and heavy construction equipment. A valid CDL with air brake is required. ASE Master Mechanics Automotive Certification preferred.
