The Town of East Granby seeks applicants for the position of a Finance Director. The position is part-time with a salary of $30,000.
Responsibilities: Works with the First Selectman in the preparation and administration of the annual general government budget and the capital improvements budget. Attends budget committee meetings, reviews budget requests for accuracy and completeness and consults with department heads regarding their operating budgets.
Prepares financial documents, exhibits, statistical summaries, and other materials for a variety of purposes including inclusion in the town’s annual financial report
Monitors and analyzes department budgets; identifies potential budgetary concerns, performs budget adjustments, and informs First Selectwoman and Department Heads of same.
Assists the auditors during the annual audit of Town financial records; follows up on findings to enhance, improve or replace financial systems.
Prepares monthly financial reports, narratives, and end of year reports.
Work is performed in accordance with established municipal finance procedures, local ordinances and Connecticut General Statutes governing the responsibilities of local government accounting.
Maintains confidentiality regarding records of the Town and Personnel matters.
Education and Experience: A BS in accounting or business, preferably supplemented with a Master’s degree in business or public administration and considerable experience in public finance administration including some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal accounting.
